I have searched and searched but can't find anything like this to comparatively title or describe. Closest items I see are english wicker-covered flasks and thermos. The weave design seems remniscent of eastern european folk patterns. Most wonderful is its superb condition for age. Just a few slivers of raffia extruding from red weave in bulbous area. Holds water fine. It doesn't appear to have been used or stored in such a way as to age/fade it. It is woven with a start and stop point on the 'drawnwork' weave in mid-section. I don't know if it is mercury glass but the silvery quality of interior makes me think possibly. A real treasure!
